British architect David Chipperfield, born in London in 1953, studied architecture at Kingston School of Art and the Architectural Association in London.1985 he founded his own architectural practice in London, later opening branches in Berlin, Milan, Shanghai and Santiago de Compostela. His architecture is known for its restraint, timeless elegance and sensitive approach to the structural context – often characterised by minimalist design, high-quality materials and precise lighting. David Chipperfield has received numerous awards for his work, including the RIBA Royal Gold Medal and the 2023 Pritzker Prize. With projects such as the Neues Museum in Berlin, the James Simon Gallery and the Museo Jumex in Mexico City, he has set global standards for sophisticated, durable architecture that always blends respectfully into its surroundings.
